27 projects taking place in the OCTs / 15 organisations
Horizon Europe is the new EU programme for research and innovation and successor of Horizon 2020 that will run from 2021 until 2027.
In principle, persons and entities established in OCTs are eligible for funding like any other EU Member State (Recital 33). Nevertheless, it is advised to check the requirements of specific calls, as certain actions might be addressed at specific regions and exclude the OCTs.
Horizon Europe will be implemented through 3 pillars:
A specific new programme line Strengthening the European Research Area is added to fully exploit the potential in less R&I performing countries and cover the next generation of the Policy Support Facility.
Horizon Europe can provide excellent opportunities to collaborate with other European countries to develop projects in relevant fields, such as environment or energy transition.
The researcher focused programme Marie Sklodowska-Curie also brings further opportunities for local OCT researchers.
The programme management is centralised at European level by the Directorate-General Research and Innovation (DG RTD).
